I’ve spent my time at home the last few weekends trying to keep the monsters entertained so we’ve re-tread a few old ideas again.
Snozzbangers
The monsters enjoyed making the sausages last year so we thought we’d have another go. This time I bought minced pork from the butchers and we had another go at making our seasoning mix from our last effort. I dialled back the mace a little and swapped the rosemary for sage but otherwise I intended to make the same seasoning. One minor hiccup I got my measurements wrong which affected the final product. Beginner mistake I used measuring spoons when I should have weighed my ingredients. So my seasoning was a higher proportion salt. The finished product was good and the reduction in mace was an improvement but they were a tiny bit saltier than I would have preferred. Still the monsters loved the mixing and filling and cooking so a relatively painless weekend’s fun.

Trapped with Monsters – Treasure Hunt
I may be running out of new ideas or maybe good ideas remain good ideas. But in this case the monsters pestered me for a treasure hunt. By coincedence I had a decent prize to hand so setting about ceating a hunt similar to last years. The monsters are a little older and can read a little better so I wrote them some cyrptic clues with a treasure map to match. EmmCee and I set up the hunt and off we went. The monsters loved it although one or two clues did require a little prodding to complete. What can I say, it’s not my day job and the quality assurance department had taken the week off.

The prize was a Lego Harry Potter Charms Class I’ve bought the complete set of 4 of these for the monsters this year and been really impressed by the quality of them. This was the last of the set and suffice to say the monsters were very happy. If anyone has any ideas for kids treasure hunts I’d love to know them. Also with regard tot he Lego I’m not getting any endorsements.
