It has been a very full on year so far. We have spent a lot of time and effort away from our usual self sufficient-ish pursuits. Today was a Lazy Day. To commerate the 20 anniversary of the Harry Potter Films Lego organised a magical mystery hunt in London, Cardiff and Edinburgh.

I’ve spent my time at home the last few weekends trying to keep the monsters entertained so we’ve re-tread a few old ideas again.

Hi EmmCee and I have been unusually busy since Christmas hance the lack of recent posts. The Good Life stuff has slowed down but hopefully we’ll resume soon. So whilst feeding the chickens, gardening etc coontinue it is all at a lower tempo. The main reason for this is we will soon be relocating and our efforts have been around tarting up and selling the current Fat Cat’s Patch and looking for the next Patch.
Watch this space hopefully we’ll have something to share soon.
Spring Update – Apple Blossom in Bloom
As is the tradition for this year another brief update. Blossom is now in bloom and the garden is definitely waking from it’s winter slumber if a little later this year because of the prolonged cold spell. By and large the apple trees are doing ell and the blossom is a clear indication of this.

A quick winter update, we started the year with our now ritual wassailing of the apple trees. The kids love to our the perimeter of the garden banging pans wearing silly hats and scaring away the evil spirits. Once again we hung toast on the trees having dipped it in last years cider. In the last few weeks I’ve been doing a few outdoors jobs like mowing and strimming the garden before winter. I’ve done some more work on the tree house. We collected some apples from the smaller 4 apple trees. I also got the chainsaw out and cut and split some wood for the wood store.

One of this years projects has been stripping out and rebuilding the kitchen which has taken much of my time but been an enjoyable task. The main purpose being to refresh the room but also make it much more usable. A small addition to the project has been a home made pan rack to get the pans out of cupboards and into a more ergonomic location.

I haven’t done any interesting cooking with the monsters for a while, so I decided they might enjoy having a go at some breakfast sausages. I’ve had mixed success in the past with sausages. Despite having all the right butchery equipment I’ve never quite got the consistency or taste quite right. So never one to shirk a challenge I doubled down by including the monsters in the process.
